Burning ceremonies have been used in one way or another for hundreds, if not thousands of years. They are a simple yet highly effective practice that will enable you to clearly set your intentions for the future, by removing what is no longer needed from the past. By letting go of these past thoughts, habits and emotions, you clear the way for your future dreams, practices and desires.
Burning release ceremonies are a great way to finish off the lunar cycle if you have been manifesting with the moon to bring positive changes to life (check out our blog post on manifesting with the new moon)
They are also incredibly beneficial when performed during periods of your life where you are experiencing great change or turmoil, such as the breakdown of a relationship or a house/career move.
Read on for your step by step guide to performing your own burning release ceremony at home today.

What you will need.
Pen
Paper (x2 sheets minimum)
Lighter/matches
Fire proof bowl
Prepare the space.
Make sure that you have a safe space to conduct the ceremony and be conscious of the fact that you will be working with fire and take the necessary precautions.
Outdoors is best, so make sure that you are sheltered from the wind.
Collect all of the items that you will need and make sure that you will not be disturbed (turn your phone onto silent/do not disturb)
If you would like to play some calming music, then prepare that now.
Prepare yourself.
You do not want to be bringing the stresses of the day with you into this space, so take the time to ground yourself and relax. You can do this by:
Meditating.
Taking a walk/doing some exercise beforehand.
Having a bath/shower so that you feel refreshed or if you are already feeling positive, simply take some long deep breaths and clear your mind.
Release.
Spend a few minutes becoming clear in your mind about what you want to release and what you want to welcome into your life.
Write down on the first piece of paper all the things/thoughts/actions that you no longer need in your life and that you are ready to get rid of.
Once you have finished, take a look at the list and take a good look to see if there is anything else that you could add to this list.
Fold the paper up and place it into your burning bowl.
Take a few moments to contemplate what you will be releasing and how it no longer benefits you. Think of how your life will improve once these things are gone.
Take some long, deep breaths.
Light the paper.
Smile as you feel those things disappear from your life.
Attract
Now pick up the next piece of paper, and with a clear mind and a clear heart, write down all that you wish to attract into your life from this point forward.
Take a good look at these things and see if there is anything else that you need to add.
Imagine that you already have these things. Feel the joy/peace/satisfaction as if they have already arrived.
Give thanks for the wonderful life that you have created in your life.
Fold the paper up and place it somewhere safe.
Extras.
You might wish to create yourself a mood board with images/words that will represent everything on your list. You can then place the mood board somewhere that you will see it every day as a reminder of what you are bringing into your life.
